AUT Vice Chancellor’s Significant Student Scholarship

Closing date: 1 September 2016

Value of award: $6,500 per annum fees contribution

Tenure: The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of three years subject to the student passing all papers and maintaining a B average during their course of study. Academic progress will be monitored each semester.

Selection criteria: Applicants must be NZ Citizens or permanent residents and must be currently studying a New Zealand secondary school qualification. Applicants must be enrolling for the first time, in a full-time programme of study at AUT. All applicants will be expected to have demonstrated the potential for leadership and show they are contributing at a high level to their school or community. Applicants can either apply under the academic excellence category or they are active in cultural pursuits or sport at a representative level.

How to apply: Applicants must apply through the on-line AUT Scholarship application portal. Applicants will be required to upload:

  • A one-page personal statement outlining reasons for wishing to attend AUT, academic goals and leadership positions held.
  • A current certified copy of their NCEA, CIE or IB record of achievement.
  • References: One referee should be from the school, cultural group, religious group, sports club, work place or a community organisation that the applicant is involved with. The second must be from their Principal or Principal’s nominee.

Victoria Excellence Scholarships

Closing date: 15 September 2016

The Victoria Excellence Scholarships are first-year scholarships, valued at $5,000. The top 20 applicants will be awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships, which are worth $20,000, paid over three years. These scholarships are awarded based on academic performance in Year 12. Applications are encouraged from students who have achieved at least NCEA Level 2 endorsed with Excellence, or equivalent in another qualification.

Victoria Achiever Scholarships

Closing date: 15 September 2016

The Victoria Achiever Scholarships are first-year scholarships, valued at $5,000. These scholarships are for students who may otherwise be unable to attend Victoria University. Applicants need to have their NCEA Level 2 Certificate endorsed with Merit, or equivalent, and must also fall into one (or more) of the following categories:

  • Māori students
  • Pacific students
  • students with disabilities
  • students educated at decile 1 to 3 secondary schools
  • students who can demonstrate financial hardship.

A Vice-Chancellor’s Achiever Scholarship worth $20,000 will be awarded to the top candidate in each of the five categories. These scholarships are paid over three years.
