Well I’ve discovered this is now completely possible through the one thing we all use and interact with: the internet. Various social media and blogging platforms have allowed teenagers to get our opinions of all shapes and sizes out into the abyss of the internet.

I highly encourage anyone with these urges to use these free applications to your advantage. Free websites such as Blogger, WordPress or Tumblr allow you to easily get your opinion on absolutely any subject out to the world. Since 2015 Blogger has allowed me to voice my thoughts and opinions with complete freedom and independence on the sport I love to bits, Formula One. This free blog has given me valuable journalism work experience whilst also considerably improving my writing skills.

But if that isn’t quite your thing, social media is another great way to express yourself. Again, websites like Facebook, Twitter and Google+ allow you to instantly post thoughts from the keyboard of your iPhone. Facebook has given me various groups which all encompass Formula One news, Twitter gives me a direct insight into the lives of teams and drivers whilst Google+ communities are simply a waterfall of peoples perspectives.

But the freedom of the internet really comes into play when you utilize both of these tools. Social media is basically a free marketing service for a blog or website. Facebook groups, Google+ communities and hashtags will let you target any audience you would like to view your content.

Now you may be thinking this may not seem like much, but for anyone who is especially interested in journalism as a career, your own blog will open some serious doors. The reason I’m sharing this today is because a free website has led me to contributing positions on two separate motorsport websites! Although it is no lie that blogs aren’t instant fame and that you’ll trudge through with minimal views – it can lead you to platforms with more viewership, as I’ve managed to do!

I think what I’m trying to say is that the internet has given young teenagers a voice and I feel like not all of us realize how powerful it can be. If you have a passion and want to take it to the next level then these free blogs and social media sites are what you need to utilize. Words just can’t describe the power you actually have, use it whilst you can!
